Any effort to help the community or neighbours is just great, so many people do this, they never expect any praise they just get on with it. I think back to the preaching work we did, we never acknowledged all of this voluntary work to be of any real value. We were told that only what were doing was of importance. My eyes have been opened to the amazing number of people that really try to make a difference, and do!

sorry if this starts off as a kind of a downer.. i am 29, and my husband and i have stopped going to meetings since last october.

we live in mexico and used to attend the english.

long story short, after realizing how many much we've been lied to we stopped going to our meetings, moved out of the territory, switched to spanish, and after a month of attending just vanished.

Late as usual with a reply;;; time difference in Northeren Europe. I hope the replies you have got help you. I got a knot in my tummy when I read your thread, I felt tears coming up and I wanted to give you a hug! I am a mother of three and I suffered with depression for many years. If you need a friend then send me a pm and I will write back with my e-mail, I don't often do that but you need a friend, I am sure the others on this board will do the same.

The most wonderful joy in your life will be the birth of your baby and your well being and love for your child must come before any other feelings that are trying to push through. Negetive feelings are learnt and you know what? You can undo them by replacing them with the good.

The good that comes from voluntary work.

OOOps it disappeared before my eyes. Well I wanted to write about the good that comes from voluntary workers. I am in the Red Cross and work with women that have been beaten by their spouses. I get a magazine from Red Cross and I wanted to share a few figures with you all.

Did you realize that 98 million people work voluntarily with the Red Cross? Is that not an amazing figure? They give their time and energy in so many ways.

In this country there are people that sit with the dying if they have noone, people who visit the lonely, those that sit and knit for children in Africa. There are people that spend night shifts at shelters, nurse the homeless, work in catastrophe areas, at least 2000 were from the Red Cross in Haiti.

I am proud of my fellow mankind when I realize just how many try to give practical help out there. There are no strings attached a thank you is payment in itself.

Birthday the big 50

well i am hitting the big one on friday and i am happy it will soon be over.

it is lovely that all my new friends are excited for me, its just a little hard to get into it wholeheartedly when i am still nervous to get our son home.. .

still i did buy 6 bottles of champagne...so there must be a party feeling coming up in me!.

I had the time of my life...my son in Afghanistan told my husband to come in to wake me up with a cake with 50 candles on...he did, it was lovely.

I had 20 red roses from my hubby and little boy. My neighbours came with flowers and put up their big flag for me. We had brunch out in town and then I was surprised by being taken to a lovely restaurant and 5 of my dear friends were there. Greetings came in all day on facebook and I got the call from Afghan too. To top off a perfect day my husband even sang a serenade to me in front of my friends...he was quite sober and it sounded lovely. I was in tears...such a lovely, lovely day. I can't wait to do the same for our son when he gets back soon.

Thank you for letting me share this...you guys all know how much it means.

like all those born in, i was brought up without hope or guidance for a life in this world.

instead of being taught to be self sufficient and confident, i was trained to obey my parents without question (ephesians 6:1).

I enjoyed you very candid post. It made me realize that my own reactions to leaving the org three years ago were very much like yours. I too was born in and suffered from nervous anxiety throughout my childhood, developed depression in my twenties and had a breakdown in my thirties. It took medication, and counseling to get me through my forties but the true cure came when I examined my so called beliefs and realized that I could no longer be a JW.

I have experienced like you, such freedom and happiness, and yet sadness at the years of doubt, depression and mindless drudgery. My husband left at the same time as I did and we now have a better marriage and family life than ever before.

I wish you all the best for you continued journey to find the real You!
